Health and Wellness Center
野花社区's Health & Wellness Center is a part of the Division of Student Development and Community Engagement.
Located in easily accessible Vodra Hall, the Health and Wellness Center offers preventive and primary care services to help 野花社区 students stay healthy, regardless of insurance. Appointments are necessary; students are seen in the order they arrive unless their condition warrants otherwise.
With the utmost compassion, professionalism, and confidentiality the HWC's experienced, highly trained staff provides patients:
- Care for acute concerns including respiratory illness, sprains and strains, fever, stomach pains, skin rashes, and minor emergencies
- Assistance with chronic illness
- Services such as blood pressure screening and weight monitoring
In addition to providing referrals for off-campus specialists and other resources as needed, HWC's staff educates students on ways to improve their health and self-advocacy in the future as informed consumers of healthcare services.

Health & Wellness Center Confidentiality Policy
All healthcare visits to the Health Center are strictly confidential. Your medical chart starts with your first visit to Health Center and when you complete the Medical History Form. Notations are made in your chart each time you receive services. Your Student Medical Chart is completely separate from any other records, including your academic records.
Patients 18 or older must sign a written consent form to release any information except in the following situations:
- The disclosure of your health information is made to medical personnel in a true medical emergency,
- The disclosure is required by law,
- The disclosure is necessary for public health or public safety reasons,
- The disclosure relates to victims of child or elder abuse/neglect,
- The disclosure is required for judicial proceedings (subpoena or court order),
- The disclosure relates to government functions (national security/terrorism issues).
Your parent/guardian will not be notified of any information if you are 18 or older. The medical staff will only speak with your parent or guardian with your written consent.
Parent/guardian notification will only occur when a student is under 18 years of age. If the student is under the age of 18, consent is required from the parent or guardian to provide any care other than emergency care. The attached form must be completed by the parent or guardian, signed, and returned to Health Services. Please note that this authorization expires when the student turns 18 years old.
All patients' medical records and health care transactions are maintained confidentially and cannot be released to another party without the patient's written consent or by subpoena.
Health Center Costs/Charges
The HWC provides diagnostic and primary health care for various illnesses and education and prevention services to all enrolled students. Some services may have a fee associated, such as flu vaccine, medications, and pregnancy testing.
If a student requires non-emergency medical attention when Health Services is closed, you can see a community medical provider. In addition, locally, several urgent care-type facilities are conveniently near 野花社区.
Assumption of Costs: 野花社区 will not assume financial responsibility if using a community provider. The student and/or family are responsible for all associated costs, which may be paid by insurance or personal funds.
In the case of an emergency, your only option is to go to the emergency department of a local hospital. If you believe you have a condition that cannot wait until Health Services is open, call Public Safety at 201-200-3128. Public Safety will immediately respond to your location. The Jersey City Police and an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Unit will also respond. EMS is staffed with certified emergency medical technicians and will assess your condition and transport you to the local emergency room by ambulance. The student is responsible for all associated costs of hospital transport and treatment.
The 野花社区 Health and Wellness Center is NOT an Emergency Department and cannot provide the level of care that Emergency Departments do provide. Invasive procedures and emergencies are referred to community providers, local hospitals, or local health care facilities. It may be medically necessary to have a student seek more definitive care at the Emergency Department or with a local specialist. The student is responsible for all associated costs.
