Jersey City, N.J., January 11, 2018 鈥 Lawrence Hamm, a civil rights and social justice activist and president of the People鈥檚 Organization for Progress (POP), spoke at 野花社区鈥檚 29th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Luncheon on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.
Sponsored by 野花社区鈥檚 Lee Hagan Africana Studies Center led by Will Guzman, the theme for this year鈥檚 celebration was 鈥淭he Politics of War & Militarism in a Post-King Era.鈥
MLK Scholarships were presented by BAAFSSO President Leah Jackson to Nasir McDaniels and Rashad Wright.
Venida C. Rodman Jenkins, M. Div., Director, 野花社区 Speicher-Rubin Women's Center for Equity and Diversity was name the Community Service Honoree.
The 野花社区 Unity Ensemble, directed by Dr. Meridia Warren performed selections.
